Let’s file this under “uhuh, yeah, right.” Suuuuure it’s coming out soon. Of course, according to the developer, this is the shortest delay (whatever that means in a decades long delay. Technically it’s still on the first delay). Randy Pitchford, king ding-a-ling over at Gearbox software had this to say: “I’m very sorry for the added delay. We’ve all been working extremely hard and are very eager to deliver the game to you,”
Uhuh, yeah Randy, sure. Basically, the release date has been moved from May to June. Oh, not that bad, you say? Considering the release date has been pushed back since 1997, I promise you, your 5 year old’s grandkids are going to love this game once they get to buy it as adults. Speaking of which, this better be the greatest friggin game EVER! But here’s a bone to maybe make you feel better. Gearbox only took over in 2009, so they might not make you wait another 15 years. Below is the delay announcement for your popcorn throwing and booing pleasure. I’d love to say that I love their sense of humor in this, but I sincerely just want them all to die.
All of this has happened before and it will happen again.
Never bet on Duke.
Look at it this way: Gearbox has pumped out some amazing games in the past and they have shown us more DNF progress than all of the others combined. There’s a very good chance that what they are doing is making sure that this game is worth the 15 years we’ve waited.
Let’s hope that’s the case.
Be honest, a piece of you wants this game to be delayed for another decade and a half just so it can be the greatest self-assembling meme ever sels-assembled.
