Yep. You heard that right. Paris tattoo artist K.A.R.L realized that tattoos shouldn’t be limited to static art of passing fancies, or memorials to those who have passed. He designed a tattoo with an embedded QR Code. If you scanned that QR code, you’d get linked to a YouTube video. That video, when played full screen on an iPhone (that was set in the just the right place) would make it appear as if the tattoo was animated.
On top of that, he streamed the whole process on Facebook, and got input from viewers. You’ll note the sadist who asked for more shading in the comments. Video After the break:
WARNING: If you are the least bit squeamish, watching someone get tattooed may not be a great idea. Also, man nipple, so possibly NSFW.
For what it’s worth, I think this is horribly retarded. That tattoo will never play the same on another device, and that iPhone won’t stay around forever. Plus, the QR code wouldn’t work for me.
Note: I have tattoos, and love them. I just think there should be a little thought as to what they’ll be in two years.
This is dumb. (cool on a technical level but dumb on a practical level)
Very cool! It reminded me of the “augmented reality” tattoo this guy got so it would work with his Nintendo 3DS. http://youtu.be/rpDcQSbBDU4
