Boy do I have some big news. It’s never been done in the history of the photoshop contest. It’s unprecedented to say the least. It’ll go down in history as the boldest move that anyone has ever made… ever!
Ok, it isn’t that bold, but it is cool! Here’s why:
When the Photoshop Contests come to a close, my work has only just begun. A winner must be chosen, and I only have until the next day to do so. This may seem like an easy task. You might imagine that I just look at a few and say “that one!” and then I’m done with it… Quite the contrary actually.
What happens after all the entries are submitted is a spiritual quest to find the perfect Photoshop entry. It’s a journey that must be taken in solitude, and is one that I take very seriously. Let me explain.
First, I print out all of the entries. I use a nice photo-stock paper so that each entry really shines. Then, I take them to my meditation chamber. A room that is more of a state of mind, than an actual place. While there, I line them along the floor in a semi-circle, with me sitting in the middle. I close my eyes and visualize them, along the floor, in my mind’s eye. As time passes, the winner becomes clear to me. It speaks to my soul. It rises from the floor, bathed in light, reaching out to me. I reach for it, and when it meets my grasp, the winner has been chosen.
I then repeat the process for the 2nd and 3rd place entries.
This week though, a divine spirit came through me in my meditation. It shrouded my mind in fog and confusion so that no single entry stuck out more than another. After a while, it became clear that a decision was already made for me. A voice spoke to me in my subconscious and told me, “They’ve all won.”
So what does this mean?
Well, it means that if there is ever an error on our site, the user will be whisked away to our 404 page where one of your entries, along with my little submission up there at the top, will be displayed at random, every time you land on the page. Don’t believe me? Go take a look. Hit refresh a few times, and the images will change. Fair warning, the script that controls the randomness is a little fussy, so it may reload the same image a few times or the same two images, it also relies on your browsers cache so don’t be discouraged if you don’t see your entry right away. Trust me, it’s there. I’ve verified all of them.
All meditation nonsense aside, you guys are the reason we have such a good time with this site. We owe you a lot for your support in helping us become a recognized part of the tech-blog community. It seems only fair that we make all of you part of our site as well.
Below, you’ll find the gallery with all of the submissions. Congrats, and thank you, to all who entered.
This does seem like a bit of a Pyrrhic victory. By definition, for any of these entries to get a front and center, we have to have errors, our site has to be down. Still, this was an excellent haul.
Wow, if the 404 page takes that long to load when there’s not a problem, I can only wonder how long it will take when the site is down. It so far has loaded half an image in three minutes and continues to try to “transferring data from roncasseldesign.com” Refreshing just starts the process all over.
A few refreshes in, and it seems to be working just fine for me.
At least in Firefox.
Yup. All groovy for me now, too after refreshing a few times. :) I’m also using Firefox.
It’ll migrate to our site soon. Should speed it up. My site is only temporary.
After a couple of refreshes, suggested by King_Saberhawk, it’s loading instantly.
Dammit. I didn’t catch any announcements for this.
We reposted for a week straight! Pay attention haha.
shit. I like all of these!
#3 shoulda won.
