GoldenEye 007: Reloaded – Golden Gun Deathmatch
I’m not going to lie to y’all, I’m humming the James Bond theme in my head as I write this article. That’s the kind of mood that GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is going to put you in. This weekend at the New York Comic Con, Vitto, Lou, and myself sat down for one of the first hands-on local multiplayer demos of the latest Bond shooter from Activision.
First let me just throw this out there, this is the Goldeneye game that fans have been wanting since the N64 version. We have classic characters like Baron Samedi Oddjob (damn you Lou and those damned hats) as well as Bond as played by Daniel Craig for a modern take on the Bond mythos. The local 4-player split screen was a blast with a familiar control scheme (very COD and I mean this in a good way), smooth animations, quick control response, and of course razor wire hats.
Dino Verano, the associate producer for the game, spoke briefly with us about the single player mode and fans can expect no less than stepping into the shoes of MI6’s greatest spy. With up to 16 simultaneous players in online play, Bond is sure to please the gamer that’s looking for an immersive story or those out there that want to frag me into depression. Available Nov. 1 for XBox and PS3.
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Admittedly this is an early contender for Vitto’s best in show and there’s plenty to like. Old Republic takes you back in time to a galaxy far, far away where you can pick which side of the Force you will fight for.
The game is not unlike War of Worldcraft in that you start your journey as one of 6 types of characters each with their unique skill sets. You travel through the Old Republic leveling up your character in free roaming environment filled with breathtaking landscapes and plenty of objectives and hidden quests to keep you coming back for more.
Old Republic is a long awaited title for many Star Wars fans, though I’m sad to say that technical difficulties cut our hands-on time short, it was more than enough to whet the appetite. Look for it for your PC Dec 20.
