Nintendo gearing up for The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

Coming off the big weekend launch party for Nintendo’s Super Mario 3D Land, Nintendo announced it plans on celebrating the release of the latest Legend of Zelda game in much the same manner. The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is another AAA game in Nintendo’s roster and if the recent reviews of the game are to be believed, this one is as close to perfect as you get.

The fanfare and glowing reviews are not lost on the Big N, that’s why if you’re in the New York City/metro-area, you may want to swing by the Nintendo World Store in New York’s Rockefeller Center on Saturday, November 19th. Starting at 9AM, Nintendo World will be hosting a launch event for Skyward Sword including an unveiling of a replica Master Sword (via G4TV) and of course a chance to buy your copy a day early.

If you can’t wait til this weekend to get your Skyward Sword fix, Nintendo also announced that they’ve partnered with Penny Arcade to produce a 5 panel comic featuring the artwork of Mike Krahulik. The special comic features a meshing of both the art found in the game as well as Penny Arcade’s signature style; you’ll want to bookmark this link for later.

NINTENDO JOINS FORCES WITH PENNY ARCADE TO CREATE ORIG. COMIC FOR THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: SKYWARD SWORD

Nov. 15, 2011

Nintendo has teamed up with the creative team from the popular Penny Arcade online comic strip to create a special comic in celebration of the Nov. 20 launch of The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword for the Wii™ console.

Starting today, the first of five weekly comic panels will appear on http://www.zelda.com/skywardsword/comic. The comics include characters and themes from the new game, and are drawn in a style that combines the game’s distinctive new look and Penny Arcade’s signature style.

“I was 14 when I first played The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past,” said Penny Arcade artist Mike Krahulik. “That was 20 years ago, and today I am introducing my son to The Legend of Zelda. The opportunity to work with Nintendo to create a Zelda comic is not only an incredible honor, but quite literally a childhood dream come true.”
