Have Nokia’s new Lumia phones been leaked?

Are these Nokia’s first Windows Phone 8 handsets?

A couple of days ago, Samsung wowed the tech world by managing to keep a secret and unveiled the first official Windows Phone 8 device – beating Microsoft’s hardware partner, Nokia, to the punch. Now it looks like Nokia’s handset may have been outed a week before their big announcement in New York City. The image below comes from Twitter and is supposed to be the new Lumia 920 with PureView technology.

PureView means a lump where the camera goes

The overall design of the Lumia 920 is a gorgeously crafted piece of glass on plastic polycarbonite resembling the current Lumia 900’s aesthetic. But as gorgeous as it is, many have pointed out that the PureView designation creates some problems believing the rumor – the Nokia 808 PureView has a hump back due to the huge (for a phone) PureView sensor. It is totally possible that the Lumia 920’s PureView “technology” could be an imaging algorithm that scales up images taken with a much smaller sensor, lending credence to the 920’s apparent size/shape. EVLeaks not only outed Nokia’s presumed flagship Windows Phone 8 Phone, but they also teased us with some press shots of the Lumia 820 line – a possible mid-tier offering:

According to the folks at Gizmodo, the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 are expected to be hitting both AT&T and T-Mobile and a variant of their Lumia line is expected on Verizon shortly after. With September 5th around the corner, we’re excited to see how much of this holds true.
