Amazon kills off 9,000 affiliates in Illinois due to internet sales tax, businesses flee
Illinois is the fourth state to pass a law that taxes online purchases. The tax goes into effect immediately and applies to all online retailers that don’t have a brick-and-mortar store in Illinois. This means that Amazon.com, Overstock.com, and B&H Photo, among others, will now be required to collect sales tax from Illinois customers.
